The Charlotte Church My Life (So Far) book signing
took place in the “event” room on the 3rd floor of Barnes and Noble at 66th and Broadway, NYC on April
17th. Just to give you an idea what the event room looked like, it is a
rectangular room where they usually sell computer books. Inside this room,
the store set up those ropes that clip onto the free standing posts to create
a zig-zag walkway for the line up of people. Fans began to line up at 5pm.
There were about 20 fans on line when I got on line about 5:45pm. The wait
till 7pm was long but I did not mind it.
When Charlotte arrived about 7pm there were around 60-70 fans on line with
books, CD’s and cameras in hand. To me it did not seem to be that many
people waiting. I was expecting a lot more fans. But anyhow, Charlotte came
up the escalator with an entourage of people that included her Mum and Dad
and plenty of BN personnel. There was no greeting from the fans as she
walked into the room probably because they were too busy trying real hard to
get a glimpse of her, me included.

Charlotte looked great. Her hair was parted on the side and she wore black
pants and a black sleeveless top. She quickly sat down at a small square
table and prepared herself to sign autographs. The crowd was very
quiet and polite throughout the book signing. I was taking pictures as I moved through
the line hoping that I would get a few good shots of Charlotte.
It was about 7:15pm and it was my turn. My heart sank as I greeted
Charlotte and handed her my copy of the book. As she signed it, I told her
that I really enjoyed her concert at Lincoln Center. She thanked me. She
gave me the book back and looked up at me with a big smile. She is one
pretty lady, to say the least. I thanked her and left the room.

I stayed outside the room with others and took a few more pictures. A
photographer from some magazine (she would not say which one) was given
permission to photograph Charlotte close up.
The line of fans ended around 7:30pm but Charlotte was obligated to stay till
8pm. Of course, I stayed till the end trying to make the most of it. Only a
few others arrived after 7:30pm. She basically hung out with the BN people.
She seemed very relaxed. Well, sadly enough, 8pm rolled around and I was
hoping she would pass me by on her way out but Charlotte ended up going out the door in
the “event” room.
Was it worth it? YES
Would I do it again? What do you think.
