The CharlotteChurch.net 2003 Year in Review
By the staff of CharlotteChurch.net

=Introduction=

2003 was a year of many firsts and significant achievements for Charlotte.

Charlotte started 2003 with a smash hit single in the UK charts. "The Opera Song" entered the chart at number 3 and went on to become one of the more successful singles of the year. It was the year's 68th best seller, in a field of some 6000 releases.

Following her 2002 appearance on "Have I Got News For You" as their youngest guest, in 2003 Charlotte went one better and became their youngest ever presenter! Later in the year, Charlotte was the youngest person to address the Oxford Union. 2003 also saw the release of Charlotte's first movie, "I'll Be There". The movie received premierès in both Cardiff and London. Charlotte recorded 4 songs for the movie including the showpiece "Would I Know", surely one of the most powerful tracks of the year.

Promotional activity for "The Opera Song" and "I'll Be There" saw a number of TV appearances on top TV shows including "Top Of The Pops", "The Saturday Show", "Graham Norton" and "Jonathan Ross".

Concert appearances included Las Vegas and Swansea, Wales, both of which were attended by fans and team members of our site.

Charlotte joined Ian Botham for the last leg of his annual walk in support of the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital Appeal, one of her favourite charities.

The British media were up to their old tricks again, focusing on Charlotte's private life in a highly intrusive manner. This is an unfortunate downside of fame which shows no sign of changing as we enter 2004. We will continue to support Charlotte's privacy.

Like the year before it, 2003 was another year of change for the team at CharlotteChurch.net and indeed, for the site itself. Our co-founder Mark (aka USMark) handed over the reigns after 4 years. Nobody appreciated quite how much effort Mark gave to the smooth running of the site until he had gone - it was significant. We would like to thank you Mark for all your efforts over the years and for leaving us with a site to be proud of. Towards the end of the year we moved our site to a new ISP, leading to what we hope will be a faster, more reliable service with far more capacity for those downloads which prove so popular when we run features on Charlotte's appearances.

And so onto our feature, C2K3: The CharlotteChurch.net Year in review. We hope you enjoyed spending time with us in 2003 and we look forward to more of the same in 2004!
