2005
was always going to be an exciting year, with the
much anticipated and long awaited launch of
Charlotte's transition into the world of pop.
Actually, 'pop' really doesn't do justice to the
mix of musical styles that Charlotte had been busy
working on over the past 18 months - 'Tissues and
Issues' is a very varied and accomplished album
with which to launch her new career. The
UK public embraced Charlotte's new music with open
arms. The first single 'Crazy Chick' stormed the
singles charts, debuting at number 2, the highest
new entry for chart-week ending 2nd July. The
single proved to be one of the defining sounds of
the summer and, one of the biggest sellers of
2005. Two weeks later and the album 'Tissues and
Issues' was to repeat the same feat, claiming the
highest new entry at number 5 on the album charts.
'Call My Name' and its accompanying promo video
kept TV and Radio buzzing in the autumn and the
year closed with the release of the beautiful
ballad 'Even God Can't Change The Past'.
2005 also saw the return of Charlotte's manic
promotional schedule with literally dozens of
appearances on TV and Radio to promote the singles
and parent album. Charlotte took part in the
summer radio road-shows, sometimes appearing at
two venues in one afternoon! A number of
'cover-girl' magazine interviews, in-store
signings and one off live events complete the
picture. The TV documentary 'Charlotte
Church - Confessions of a Teen Angel' was an open
and frank overview of Charlotte's life as she
prepared for the launch of the album and first two
singles.
As always, CharlotteChurch.net is a team effort
