Charlotte
Church : "Hello This is Classic FM and I'm Charlotte Church. Yes, they've given me a whole hour of Classic Fm to do what I want with. Do they know what they've done? I wonder. Between now and the end of the program anything could happen.I'm going to play a lot of my personal fav's and maybe hear requests from my friends. First though let me read what this CD says. Oh .. Charlotte Church. This will be me then. It's from my new album Enchantment. It's the Flower Duet from
Lakmé, by Delibes. And on this one see if you can hear who I'm directed with. I think she's great."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point the Flower Song started
playing.]
Charlotte : "That was me and myself singing the Flower Duet from
Delibe's Lakmé with the Philharmonic Orchestra. Now I was asked recently, 'If I could meet anyone at all, who would I most like to meet ever; and what would I say to them?' That's a real tough one. Umm .. I think that I narrowed it down to two. First of all I'd like to meet Cleopatra, because I just think she was the most amazing woman ever and I'm just really fascinated with
ancient Egypt, and anthropology and all kind of things
like that. And the question I'd ask her would be umm .. umm .. umm .. oh what it was like to become Queen of Egypt, at like .. I think she became Queen at seventeen so what it was like to be Queen at seventeen? I'd also umm .. like to meet either J.K. Rowling or
Dumbledore himself. You see Dumbledore is the headmaster of
Hogwarts School which is the school that Harry Potter goes to. And he seems to know everything. So I'd like to speak to
Dumbledore. Umm .. and I just absolutely love the Harry Potter books. And right now I'm gonna play something from the soundtrack of that movie which is composed by John Williams. Theres bits of music for virtually all the characters and events in the films. But this bit is 'Harry's Wonderous World.' "
[Transcriber's Note : At this point Harry's Wonderous World started
playing.]
Charlotte : "John Williams himself conducting a studio orchestra and Harry's Wonderous World being from Harry Potter."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point a quick instrumental refrain score of Angels We Have Heard On High was
playing.]
Charlotte : "Now let's see what next? Stereophonics? No. Umm Robbie.. No. Destiny's Child.. maybe later. Ahh here we are Renee Flemming. Renee Flemming has got to be one of my favorite singers. I first heard her in
The Scalaand I just thought woah what a voice. We're going to her her singing something by
Dvorak which is called 'Song To The Moon.' Beautiful voice and a beautiful Aria. Perfect."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point Song To The Moon started
playing.]
Charlotte : "A gorgeous voice. Renee Flemming singing The Song To The Moon with George Schulte conducting the London Symphony Orchestra."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point a quick instrumental refrain score of O Come All Ye Faithful was
playing.]
Charlotte :
"Hello, I'm Charlotte Church on Classic FM. Now music that reminds me of home. It may come as a surprise to anyone just come back from Mars, to hear that I am Welsh. And having a schedule like mine, it's really lovely to come home to Wales. This years been wicked fun. I got to sing Opera for Opra, do a concert in the Hollywood Bowl, and even got to talk on the Jay Leno Show. It does really pinch myself since that show but this is one of my favorite living Welsh men. The lovely Bryn Terfel. And here he is singing 'Men Of Harlech.' "
[Transcriber's Note : At this point Men Of Harlech started
playing.]
Charlotte : "You're listening to Classic FM."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point Dance Of The Knights started
playing.]
Charlotte : "The beautiful 'Dance Of The Knights' from Romeo & Juliet by
Prokofjev."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point a quick instrumental refrain score of O Come Let Us Adore Him was
playing.]
Charlotte : "Now I did say I'd be doing some requests, so here goes. This is for my Nana, cause she adores this song track. It's from my new album, and it's something I recorded with a great young singer called Josh Groban. I first met him when I went to America, but we actually recorded the track while I was in Cardiff, the producer was in Denver, and Josh was in *L.A. This is 'The Prayer.' "
[transcribers notes : At this point The Prayer started playing followed directly by Jessie Cooks
Olodum. *For those of you not from the United States L.A. means Los Angeles,
California.]
Charlotte : "That was the amazing Rumba Flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook with my favorite track Elojhem. And before that was The Prayer from my new album with Josh Groban. I'm Charlotte Church on Classic FM. In a moment beat that 'want more turkey blues' with some perfect Christmas Music."
A female voice other than Charlotte said : "Charlotte Church on Classic FM continues in a moment." Intermission was made for commercials then the voice returned to announce Charlotte being back on the air. "Classic FM presents the 'Choice of An Angel - Charlotte Church,' on Classic FM."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point a quick instrumental refrain score of O Come Let Us Adore Him was
playing.]
Charlotte : "Hello I'm Charlotte Church on Classic FM taking over the airwaves for an hour. I'm trying to put together a best ever list for Christmas. Best ever present. Hmm well I think
that's going to be my AIBO Sony robotic dog; which kicks around a pink ball and does all the stuff that dogs do without the mess. It's rather brilliant. And then umm the best of Christmas Story which I had thought of. And I'd have to say that was when my Bampa .. or that means like
Grandfather. It's kind of a Welsh thing. He had a bit too much Sherry and he fell asleep in his Christmas dinner. My Nanna wasn't too happy. Umm and then the best Christmas Cracker Joke. Umm and I .. I thought about this one for a while and I couldn't think of anything that was worth telling you people. Umm because they are all so bad. But I've got one which made me laugh hysterically. Although its so stupid.. but why did the sun blush? Because the sea weed. Ha Ha Ha. Sorry .. but I absolutely love that one. Umm and finally .. uhh .. The best Christmas ever? And I couldn't really pick one 'cause all my Christmas's have been really really phatt and really cool. And uhh .. I have a great time in my family and umm everybody in my family ends up playing umm .. Trival Pursuit in a drunken stupor. It's rather fantastic. And we all
have a great time. Umm so all the Christmas's are brilliant. Anyway .. enough of that. This is 'Seven Years In Tibet' by John Williams."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point Seven Years In Tibet was
playing.]
Charlotte : "A man whoose career is probably up and down .. Yo-Yo Ma.. playing Seven Years In Tibet by John Williams. That gets it here because I wanted to play something with a bit of an Eastern Buddhist influence.
Ancient Egypt in particular is one of my favorite subjects. And I also love learning about Buddhism and Taoism cause I find it all very very interesting. And umm I love experimenting with different musical cultures and musical sounds. So I wanted to play somebody who did it absolutely brilliantly. That was John Williams. Well that's nearly all for me. I'm
hoping this year will be just as good as 2001 has been. And my prediction for 2002? Well Wales will win the six nations championship. Max Boyce is
elected Pope. And the Stereophonics featuring Charlotte Church have a number one single. Well you never know stranger
things have happened."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point Charlotte's Pie Jesu was heard
playing.]
Charlotte : "Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu. I'm Charlotte Church on Classic FM .. wishing you a wonderful Boxing Day evening and a peaceful two thousand and two."
[Transcriber's Note : At this point a quick instrumental refrain score of O Come All Ye Faithfull was heard playing. Followed by Mille Cherubini In Coro sung by Charlotte's favorite Welsh Tenor Bryn Terfel. A fitting song to end Charlotte's hour as
presenter on the air at Classic FM.]
