Title:
Politically Incorrect featured Guest Charlotte Church'
Date of transmission: Saturday,
28 October 2000
Channel: ABC
Host: Bill Maher
Charlotte's role in programme:
Featured Guest/Panelist
"Politically
Incorrect" marks Charlotte's first Television
appearance since the release of "dream a dream"
however if you were expecting her to perform her latest and
greatest on this programme you would have been sadly disappointed.
Politically
Incorrect, for those who are new to the show, is a late
night programme that discusses current issues in a
humourous and satirical way. The show usually has a panel of
guests or pundits to accomplish this task. During this show
the legitimacy of Halloween was being discussed. The panel
of guests included: Mos Def (Rap Artist), Holly McClure
(Media Critic), Guy Torry (Actor) and Charlotte.
This
appearance was different from any of the others that
Charlotte has previously done so it was quite interesting to
watch Charlotte's mind at work. Of all the guests, no
one was able to bring the crowd to their feet as quickly and
as easily as Charlotte with her responses.
During
the show however, the discussion turned a little
objectionable thus many are debating as to whether or not
this was the right programme for Charlotte.
In
terms of CD promotion "dream a dream" was held up
for about 5 seconds total but many will likely remember
Charlotte due to the extreme amount of intelligence and
charm that she was able to demonstrate.
As
far as entertainment value goes I've seen better but this
was a chance to see Charlotte in a much different setting so
in the end I'd say this was an interesting programme despite
the possible objectionable content.
