CC2K - Introduction

The Year 2000 was one heck of a year for Charlotte to put it mildly. She dazzled and amazed fans from every corner of the globe and never once did she disappoint anyone. As the world's favourite Charlotte site we were there every step of the way bringing you the best of Charlotte from all over the world. This feature is a look back at the events that shaped the year 2000 from Charlotte's perspective. Below are the most notable events followed by a menu that will allow you to view all our coverage from the past year. Waving Hello to a New Year
(January 1, 2000)

 

KCET Appearance in California
(February 5, 2000)

 

Charlotte rocked in the Year 2000 by performing "Just Wave Hello" at Cardiff's new Millennium Stadium. The event was seen by millions around the world on Public Broadcasting Stations that covered New Years festivities. Another group performing at Cardiff's celebration was the Manic Street Preachers...Charlotte's favourite Welsh Band.

  Charlotte's first in-store appearance in the USA was a big success. Joe, Co-Founder of CharlotteChruch.net was able to attend and thus we had our first feature here at the site. Beyond that Charlotte gained quite a few devoted fans at this appearance and set the stage for many more events like it during the rest of the year.

Charlotte Turns 14
(February 21, 2000)

 

Charlotte live in Ohio!
(April 11, 2000)


 

While Charlotte was blowing out the candles for her 14th Birthday in Tokyo, the largest site dedicated to Charlotte was lanuched. Charlotte's brithday came during an extensive Pacific Rim Tour which we covered in much detail as our first feature.

  Charlotte's first public concert in the states for 2000 was also our first attempt at coverage of such an event. Thanks to the great work of dedicated fans in Ohio we received pictures from the event only hours after they took place!

Heroes for the Planet
(May 20, 2000)


 

Charlotte confirmed her status as the top classical artist in the world by winning British Artist of the year at the first ever Classical Brit Awards. CharlotteChurch.net lead the entire world in coverage of the event with exclusive reporting from the actual ceremony.

  Charlotte joined Haley Joel Osment for a spectacular concert in San Francisco that was broadcast on A&E. Sponsored by Ford, Heroes for the Planet showcased environmental efforts of children around the world and was among the best programmes ever for Charlotte. Heroes for the Planet would go on to earn an Emmy Nomination for Musical Direction.

Charlotte Live in Wiltshire!
(August 25, 2000)

 

Charlotte Live in Nashville!
(September 10-12, 2000)


 

Charlotte kicked off her largest concert tour ever in Wiltshire, UK at the Wiltshire Festival. CharlotteChurch.net lead the way with a full feature straight from the venue.

Charlotte Live in Atlanta!

Charlotte and Amanda unveil a Dream
(September 15, 2000)


 

Following huge success in Nashville Charlotte traveled to Atlanta just a few days later to perform her second concert series of the Fall tour and to unveil a very special project (see next entry). Dave and David from Team USA did the reporting hounours for CharlotteChurch.net.

  While in Atlanta, Charlotte and Amanda Dunbar unveiled the cover art to Dream a Dream titled "Charlotte" and sold over $100,000 worth of serigraphs to benefit their new charity the Angel Alliance. Once again Dave and David provided excellent coverage for us.

"An Instant Holiday Classic"
(October 17, 2000)

 

California Dreamin'
(October 25 - 30, 2000)

 

Charlotte released her third album to much acclaim in North America. Fans absolutely loved Charlotte's third effort. In fact they loved it so much so they drove it to #7 on the mainstream charts and gave it platinum status in quick succession.  In addition to this, Dream a Dream was the best selling holiday album in the World for 2000.

  Charlotte kicked off a TV promo tour that would last until Christmas day in California. She taped appearances on Politcally Incorrect, Tonight Show and Late. The biggest news however came from an appearance at the Carousel of Hope, the premiere Hollywood charity event. Charlotte rubbed elbows with the industry's biggest stars then melted their hearts with an excellent performance. Charlotte would later call the Carousel of Hope her highlight event of the year.

Charlotte kicked off her most extensive Holiday Promotional tour ever by stopping in Toronto, Ontario. Our very own Jason and Stephanie of Team Canada got to meet up with Charlotte and provided us with a great review.

  Following the release of Dream a Dream in the UK Charlotte lit the holiday lights on Oxford Street in London at HMV's premiere store. Mark from Team UK got us a first person perspective and took some great shots for us.

The Making of Dream a Dream (November 2000)

 

Charlotte in the Holy Land DVD
(November 21, 2000)

 

Perhaps the best surprise to come along this year came in the form of a special limited edition video entitled "The Making of Dream a Dream" that showed the story behind the album as well as a nice little segment on CharlotteChurch.net. You'd have to see it to believe it!

  Charlotte followed up her wildly successiful Voice of an Angel in concert video with this excellent addition in November. This video, which accompanies the Dream a Dream album is filmed in Jerusalem where Charlotte sings in Dormition Abbey. During the video Charlotte retraces the birth of Jesus Christ.

A Holiday Tour Like No Other

Charlotte had a spectacular Holiday Promo Tour starting on November 13th and ending on Christmas day the 25th of December. Along the way she entertained millions and gained an incredible amount of fans. We did our best to cover every single appearance and in doing so created our largest most diverse feature ever spanning over 24 different events.

  Charlotte ended her most successiful year ever buy giving her fans a gift. This gift came in the form of a 13 page photo shoot in OK! Magazine in which Charlotte and her Mum and Dad displayed their new Mansion in Wales complete in it's Christmas decor. This magazine was well...unforgettable just like the year that preceded it.
