Charlotte in Concert Summer 2001 - London, England (14 July)

=Introduction=

Hyde Park

Charlotte will be joined by an all star cast onstage in London's Hyde Park. Also appearing is Russell Watson, Vanessa Mae, and Luciano Pavarotti.

Here is how news organisation Reuters put it:

Around 70,000 people are expected to converge on London's Hyde Park today for opera maestro Luciano Pavarotti's Picnic in the Park concert.

The tenor last appeared at the venue 10 years ago at a concert attended by Diana, Princess of Wales. The organizers said child soprano Charlotte Church and award-winning British tenor Russell Watson would perform alongside Pavarotti at the concert, which is sponsored by the Prince's Trust.

Last month the singer performed before a 30,000-strong crowd in Beijing with fellow tenors Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo to promote China's successful bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games.
