"New York Live!" may not be familiar to those
outside of the Tri-State area, that is New York, New Jersey
and Connecticut but for those who do get a chance to watch
this show every day I think you'll agree this is a well
produced show especially considering it doesn't have a large
national audience. It should be noted that the population of
the Tri-State area is larger than some countries :) So
how do you take a great show and make it better? You invite
Charlotte on of course! Before I get into Charlotte's
appearance let me just do a brief rundown of the others on
the 12/13 show.
Naturally, this was a very busy show considering the big
political news that came out of Washington just the night
before but they managed to have a wide range of guests on
despite this thanks to the 1 hour format. Anyways, the first
guests were the children of the legendary rocker Ricky
Nelson. They were on the show to promote their new release,
"Rick Nelson" a complete collection of the
musicians work from the 50's to the 80's.

Next came the traffic (ouch!) and the weather, which was
followed by a Charlotte intro during the commercial break.

After the commercial there was a little entertainment report
about George Cooney followed by an interview with Tony Curtis
father of the popular actress Jamie Lee Curtis and star of a
whole bunch of movies that were WAY before my time:)

Next, we had the distinct pleasure of hearing the weather
again but this time special guest weatherman Pauly Shore had
the task.

Finally,
it was time for Charlotte but as you can see the wait wasn't
that bad. Below is my best attempt at a transcript of the
dialogue:

Dana: Charlotte Church is the 14 Year Old singing sensation selling over 2 million CD's, her debut: "Voice of an Angel" came out just 2 years ago..now this teen recording queen is burning up the charts again with her latest release "dream a dream". Thank you so much for coming back to us..and she just flew in from Chicago so we really appreciate you being here!
"Voice of an Angel", "Charlotte Church" now "Dream a Dream"..all of them doing so well, what is that like for you?
Charlotte: Well I'm really excited about it because "Dream a Dream" has gotten to number 7 on the Billboard Charts and thats my best ever, so I'm really happy about that. "dream a dream" is also the highest selling christmas album as well so I'm really excited about that.

Dana: What is Christmas like for you in Wales?
Charlotte: Well generally, we all go down to my grandmothers house for sunday dinner...then half the family falls asleep and half the family stays awake playing board games. Then we all go down to my grandmothers sister's house and the adults party and the children play games and stuff like that.
Dana: In my family we had the adult table and the
children's table.
Charlotte: Yea, its not really like that, the children go in one room and the others go in another room and then sometimes the children will go in and we'll stop playing "Who wants to be a
Millionaire".
Dana: Laughs, well of course it started there first in your part of the country err I mean your part of the world.
Charlotte: Yea
Dana: You are going to sing for us and thank you for doing this one..
Charlotte: Your Welcome!
Dana: Here is Charlotte singing "When a Child is Born" from her CD dream a dream.

Charlotte then sang her stated favourite from "When a Child is Born" I don't have to tell you she did a great job
because this entire holiday tour has been absolutely perfect.
(Claping from the Studio)
Dana: 14 Year old Charlotte Church...Thank you so much for doing that! That was Beautiful!
(Back from Break)
Steve (to Charlotte and Dana): You two look like you shop in the same place there..

(Charlotte and Dana): Yeah we do dont we!
Dana: We are back here live with Charlotte Church who in Chicago just performed and also you performed at the White House, just recently.
Charlotte: Yes, it was two days ago I believe! I performed at the Christmas Tree Lighting and while I was there I got to meet President Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Mrs. Clinton. I met them last year as well but they were really lovely.
Steve: You know she [Hillary] is our new Senator from New York.
Charlotte: Yeah I know thats so Cool!
Dana: Cool?
Charlote: Yeah, she was really nice to me so I like Hillary.
Dana:We were also just talking about traditions, its Santa Claus here what is it in Britain?
Charlotte: It's Father Christmas in Britain.
Steve: I have just got to have you say "Santa Claus" in an American Accent!
Charlotte: "Santa Claus" (with a slight New Yorkish Tone)
Steve: She's got the accent!
Charlotte: Yes that was a bit New Yorkish.
Dana: You can see Charlotte on the Early Show this
Sunday performing so I hope you all are looking foward to that. Just stand by for a
minute, we have to check the traffic here in New York.
Steve: Yes that's right , our Heather
O'Rourke is standing by. Heather.. Sing us a tune!
Heather: Oh I wish I could like that.

(Traffic Report)
Dana: Thank you so much for being here! Have a Happy Holiday.
Charlotte: Your Welcome, you have a Happy Holiday as well!
Steve: Thank you so much, nice to meet you! Wonderful sounds to get us going for the Holiday season.
Well,
if you couldn't figure it out already, the hosts totally loved
Charlotte. Dana in particular, couldn't stop thanking
Charlotte. It was apparent that Charlotte stole this show just
as she had done in the past. Although this wasn't seen by as
many people as a show such as Oprah in my opinion it was just
as effective. Overall, this was another standout for
Charlotte but with a Holiday Tour as great as this one she'll
find someway to top this. Stay tuned.. - Mark
