Title:
Children in Need
Date of transmission: Friday 17
November 2000
Channel: BBC
Charlotte's role in programme:
Featured Performer
During the evening of November 17th, Charlotte
made a welcome appearance on UK television at a little after
20:30. Her second appearance being for the 21st anniversary of
BBC1's fantastic fund-raising marathon, Children in Need,
starring Pugsy the bear. Topical, don't you think, bearing in
mind Charlotte's love of all things Teddy. She appeared on a
beautifully lit and "smoke" filled stage with twelve
year old American Country singing sensation, Billy Gilman.
Billy had been given the day off school especially for this
first-on-UK-TV-showing of Dream a Dream's title song. Since we
are now only three days from the release of this, Charlotte's
third CD in the UK, this will have done nothing but good. I
hope to be able to let you all hear, and download if you wish,
the audio track of this performance in the not too distant
future.
Lydia
designed this year's Children in Need Christmas card. All
proceeds from the sale of this card go direct to the charity,
so I feel it only right to show them both here, even before
the pictures I'm sure you're all dying to see. Patience my
friends - all will be revealed in a moment!
If
you wish to make a donation to help swell this year's
wonderful total you may do so at any UK bank. The Chancellor
has agreed to refund the tax already paid, so donations will
be free of UK tax, further benefiting those children who need
it most. Remember, Charlotte has supported the NSPCC (The
National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children)
for some years, so this appearance was to be expected as a
cause close to her heart. Thank you again, Charlotte and Bless
you!

Introduction:
"Now, just two years ago, Charlotte Church gave her first
ever live television performance on Children in Need. Now she's
teamed up with an even younger star. He's American... he's
twelve... and he's been given the day off school just for us.
Please welcome Charlotte Church and Billy Gilman."
