Right - After the break: "Hello again... Now,
she's 14 and studying for her GCSE's next year, but Charlotte
Church is certainly no ordinary schoolgirl, is she? At that
tender young age, she's already a millionaire... and thinking
hard about her future. She just got back from America
performing alongside heartthrob Rikky Martin and Toni Braxton
which is where Jacqui Brambles caught up with her."

Jacqui:
"It's not easy to keep track of Charlotte Church. The 14
year old songstress spends most of her time globetrotting, to
sing for the public, Pope's and Presidents alike. It's been a
year since she dropped anchor in L.A. and I managed to catch
up with her in her Beverly Hills hotel to see if she was still
enjoying life on the road."

Charlotte:
"Erm, I mean I do, it is very hard work and, erm, you
know, it is really stressful sometimes - and - but you know
there are still - like - loads of really good things - like I
get to take my friends away with me sometimes - and erm, I get
to do all this cool stuff and go into these... shop of course
in all these fabulous places like New York and L.A. and um -
Tokio - so it's really cool." (Ed: All of this in one big
breath - whew!) And I go to all these places I've never been
to before. Like - I've just recently come back from Hong Kong
and Singapore - and - erm - Hong Kong was really cool and we
went to see the massive 26 feet - uh - 26 meter Buddah - in
Hong Kong? - Which was amazing - but then he had hair like
Craig David, so you're taking the mickey out of Budda!"

Charlotte
still takes the whole family with her where-ever she goes and
despite her extraordinary life, they're careful not to ler her
grow up too fast or change her image to that of a Brittany
Spears look-a-like.

Charlotte:
"It's actually quite the opposite to dress like
them. Everyone's going, 'Let's keep her looking three.' and
I'm like 'Hey - Hang on here people!" No - but then you
know, my parents are like, of course they don't want me to
dress in - they want me to dress in everything - all black -
all covered up - no, they're all right. But so it's a
..(couldn't quite catch these couple of words).. to have a
raunchy image an' it's quite the opposite to all that. Erm -
but then - personally, erm, before I started singing
classically, I used to have this other voice; this big massive
belter voice, like Whitney Houston, but, like, not as good as
her..."

Charlotte:
"Erm and so, erm, next year I probably won't be doing
another album because I'll be concentrating on my GCSE's,
which are not until like 2002, or something like that, but you
know, I want to kind of prepare for them and that. Erm, so....
I'm taking like a year off... recording albums and I'll
probably be doing quite a few concerts - around - and then
I'll just be experimenting with my voice to see what I can do
because I haven't really found out what I can do yet..."
Jacqui:
"Right."
Charlotte:
"So I'm just trying some different stuff."

Jacqui:
"Charlotte was in L.A. to perform at the "Carousel
of Hope" Gala fund-raiser for jeuvenile diabetes. And
after getting thehair and make-up professionally applied it
was time to throw on the designer frock and head downstairs to
mingle with the star-studded crowd before her big moment
arrived."
Below
are just five easily recognisable stars. Can YOU name them?
Bet Charlotte could... she's one of them!

Charlotte:
"I'm looking forward to being able to stand up on the
stage and look at who's doing what and seeing - - - sort out
all the famous people and where they are and... "

Jacqui:
"Michael Jackson showed up to watch the performers and
even jumped up on-stage to hug a sweaty Rikky Martin, Toni
Braxton also sang and then it was time - for the Pride of
Wales - to knock the socks off Hollywood!"
-
The lovely Charlotte Church -
- Ladies and Gentlemen -

And
the song she sang - solo?
Dream-a-Dream
A
beautiful performance from a lovely girl I've always referred
to as "the Daffodil of Wales".

Back in
the studio:
She: "Wow! What a
voice!"
He: "What a voice - what a
lady... well, she is here, live in the studio, er, tomorrow
morning. Met her Mum Friday night at Children-in-Need and she
said... 'she's in Tuesday morning'... so it's absolutely right
we're talking to her - live - on the programme tomorrow. So,
erm, Welsh people are the in-people at the moment, aren't
they?"
She: "Very cool, aren't
they?"
