New
York Post "dream a dream" Review
"Dream
a Dream" (Sony Classical) Now that Charlotte Church is
a wise old 14, the wow factor when she releases an album can
rest totally on her voice rather than the fact that this
special voice comes from a youngster.
This
time out, Miss Church aims her formidable vocal instrument
at holiday music with a collection that ranges from the very
simply orchestrated "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
to the choral-symphony rendering of "O Come All Ye
Faithful."
The 19
tracks are all lovely and soothing and will help you
remember the spirit of the Christmas season rather than the
crush of mall shopping.
Although
it might seem a little early to snag a Christmas album, this
is a timeless collection that holds a lifetime of spins.
When you take the tree down, pack "Dream a Dream"
away with the prized Christmas ornaments for next year.

"dream a dream" Review
Even if Charlotte Church's debut album hadn't been titled Voice of an Angel, the radiant purity of her voice would inevitably have brought to mind the image of a sweetly beaming young cherub. Given the enormous success of that recording, it was just as inevitable that the teenaged diva would soon lend her soprano to an album of Christmas songs and carols. What wasn't
inevitable, though, is just how good this effort is. Dream a Dream presents a joyful range of holiday music, all dressed up in festive arrangements.
Church sings with charming exuberance on "Ding Dong Merrily on High," glowing conviction on sacred numbers such as "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "O Holy Night," and true childish glee on "Winter
Wonderland." The touching Welsh carol "Draw Tua Bethlehem" is a special treat, as is the lovely "Gabriel's Message," accompanied only by harp. In addition to these yuletide favorites, Church offers the title track as a special gift -- an anthemic, glittering blend of classical and pop, based on Fauré's haunting Pavane, "Dream a Dream" also features the voice of 12-year-old country sensation Billy Gilman. Dream a Dream is Church's best album yet, and an instant Christmas classic.

"dream a dream" Review
Everybody's
favorite precocious sprite of a soprano comes out with her
third album in Dream a Dream. It's only been two
years since Charlotte Church's smash debut, Voice of an
Angel, but that's a big chunk of the Welsh singer's life
span so far. This latest is basically a Christmas album, so
full of festive cheer you'd never guess it was recorded in
the summer. Even the glummest of moods will disappear when
you hear Charlotte's infectious take on chestnuts such as
"Winter Wonderland" and "Little Drummer
Boy" (and having the London Symphony Orchestra as your
backup band doesn't hurt either). And on top of that is a
really special treat: the title song (borrowing an
unforgettable classical melody) which blends Church's
soaring vocals with the tender voice of young country
prodigy Billy Gilman. - Sarah Chin
