Information
from Official Press Release:
Enchantment,
the fourth album from Charlotte Church, the 15-year-old
internationally acclaimed and multi-platinum singing "popera"
phenomenon, is scheduled for release on Columbia Records on
October 9, 2001.
Recorded this summer in Los Angeles, Enchantment includes
many in-concert favorites and highlights an extraordinary
array of stylistically diverse material, from operatic arias
and Celtic folk songs to Broadway show tunes and pop
perennials. The album was produced by Keith Thomas (Barbra
Streisand, Brian McKnight) and features such special guests
as renowned flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook and Charlotte's
longtime accompanist, harpist Rhodri Davis.
With sales topping eight million worldwide and an
international following that spans all generations and
musical tastes, Charlotte first burst into the global
spotlight at the tender age of thirteen with her smash debut
album, Voice Of An Angel. The platinum-plus release made the
Welsh teen the youngest artist ever to land at the top of
the classical charts, as well the youngest ever to have a
Top 5 hit on the UK pop album chart. Voice Of An Angel was
followed by a second smash release, Charlotte Church, along
with last year's hit Christmas album, Dream A Dream. She has
also released a best selling concert video and DVD,
Charlotte Church In Jerusalem.
With Enchantment, Charlotte explores a wide range of music
that is sure to garner appreciative new audiences, even as
it appeals to her established fan base with dazzling vocal
performances in the classical vein. Standouts include
"La Habanera" from Bizet's Carmen and Strauss'
"The Laughing Song." The album also highlights
exquisite performances of Broadway standards, among them
"Bali Ha'i" and "Tonight." Also featured
are renditions of Irish and Welsh folk classics such as
"Cerrickfergus," as well as "Papa Can You
Hear Me?," first performed by Barbra Streisand in Yentl.
Enchantment will be supported by an extensive promotional
tour, including a number of high-profile television
appearances, followed by a concert tour with dates to be
announced as available. Press
