Charlotte's
Motto
by
Kenneth Shockley
Today
I was reading your motto
On its logic we surely can bank
Especially, Charlotte, the very first word
That simple, five-letter one, "Think"!
`Cause whether you're fifteen or fifty,
Your mind is a God-given gift
Like the Voice that He gave you,
All people have something
To offer, to share and uplift.
But so many lofty ideas
Do stumble and fall off the brink
When the author forgets, until it is too late,
What a brain's to be used for: To Think!
So Charlotte, I thank you for singing,
And thanks for the meaning you show,
Through your Song and your thought
We find what we have sought
You remind us to mind how we go.
"...think about things while you are doing them, instead
of doing
things and thinking about them afterwards." -- Charlotte
Church
