The
Legend

By
Lyle Jackson |
Legend has it that the fairy Queen grew tired of hearing the pixies sing for her. So she summoned the ancient ones to the fairy ring for council. They took a vote and decided unanimously to break the sacred vow of never giving the power of enchantment to a human being. At midnight they would seek a child from the mystical land of Wales, and deliver the gift. With a wink and a nod they were at the bed of the one they had chosen. She’s the one were looking for said the fairy King as he opened the bag of charms. One pulled out the moonbeams and poured them over her hair. One pulled out a drop of golden sun and laid it upon her face. Next came the diamond dust to be sprinkled in her eyes. Then they gave her the mark of enchantment, which they placed under her right eye for all to see. Finally they all prayed the spell that would give her a voice no mortal ever had. Then before they vanished in the night one fairy asked the other what’s her name? Oh he answered Charlotte Church, what a beautiful name.
Now the fairy Queen and all the mortals never tire of hearing
Charlotte sing.
