Charlotte spreads her wings

It used to be the voice that guaranteed her centre stage. But these days, it seems, Charlotte Church is determined to make an impact without singing a note.

While her transformation from angelic choirgirl to vampish teenager has been well-charted, her latest incarnation appears to represent a spectacular step towards womanhood.

In a diaphanous floralprint summer dress split at the midriff, she floated into the Louis Vuitton Classic Car and Bike event and stole the show from the sort of celebrities who would normally have expected to attract the attention of photographers, including model Penny Lancaster.

One guest said: 'Charlotte looked sensational. She was showing off a lot of flesh and looked very sexy.

'There was one moment when the sun was shining through the back of her dress showing off her figure like the famous picture of Princess Diana.'

Miss Church launched her singing career at the age of 11 and has accumulated a personal fortune of £5.5million, which she was handed control over when she turned 18 earlier this year.

She has been re-inventing herself in recent months as she prepares to showcase a new style of music in the autumn.

With regular gym workouts she has lost a stone and half and has been taking expert advice on her wardrobe.

A source close to the star said: 'Charlotte has been working very hard on her image and is in the best shape of her life.

' Although she has lost weight, she is still curvy and looks great. She is very much looking forward to launching her new album later this year.'

She was accompanied to the Louis Vuitton event, at Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire, by her boyfriend Kyle Johnson, 19, a trainee hotel manager who took the place of model Stephen Johnson earlier this year.

The UK's top celebrities gathered to celebrate the 150th anniversary of luxury brand Louis Vuitton on Saturday night, with current couples, sexy singletons and ex-loves mingling at the exclusive Aylesbury bash.

Nicole Appleton, Tamzin Outhwaite and Jodie Kidd were all dressed to the nines, while 18-year-old Charlotte Church once again showed she's all grown up in a sexy Scott Henshall gown. Any talk that she's called it quits with boyfriend Kyle Johnson was put to rest as the couple happily grooved to the evening's live performance by Lionel Richie.

Meanwhile Penny Lancaster and Anna Friel were also heating up the dance floor, where Penny was possibly warming up for her appearance in the musical based on hit tunes by boyfriend Rod Stewart. The statuesque model will be a "Hot Legs" girl in a charity performance of Tonight's The Night in aid of the Royal National Institute for the Blind on June 9.

Former couple Denise Van Outen and Jay Kay of Jamiriquai were getting along swimmingly during the bash, perhaps because he's reportedly composing a song just for her. "I can't wait to write for her," he was recently quoted as saying in a British newspaper. "She is a wonderful singer and has a great delivery."
