Church is introduced as the actress playing "Alice
Childers", an orphan soloist for the Kensington Choir of
England to perform at the Carnegie Hall. The story goes that an Angel played by actress Roma Downey
is assigned the task to give Alice singing lessons. The irony is
that the Angel herself who has no musical pitch has been
aspiring and dreaming to have a gift of voice that is unique
and Angelic. As she wondered about the rehearsal halls of Carnegie Hall,
she hears a really beautiful voice. "That's it!, she
said that is the voice!, that is the voice God intended me to
have." She races up the stairway into the room where this voice
was coming from and low and behold there is a young girl
who rudely stares at her blowing bumble gum. The angel
couldn't believe God gave this young girl the gift of an
angelic voice.

The
Angel becomes depressed and perplexed and is unwilling to
watch over this girl and give her singing lessons. She
struggles with the question of "How
can she give Alice singing lessons when she already has a
beautiful voice and can really sing?" Soon we will find out
what that singing lessons is.

Soon
the Angel is talking to the Musical director of the
Kensington choir asking if she could watch over Alice. She said
watching Alice is a full time job and she wished
Alice would pay more attention to singing than to the attention
she gives her old teddy bear.

Walking
through the streets of New York, the Angel tries to befriend
Alice and explains that the old teddy bear was given to her by
her long lost Father. Alice expresses her yearning for her
Father. The Angel suggests that they go to the Park.

At
the park, The Angel asks Alice what she feels, whenever that
beautiful voice comes out of her mouth. Alice said "I
don't know, I haven't really thought about it" The Angel
hesitantly asks Alice if she could give her a few pointers on singing. Alice says because of the Carnegie Hall performance,
she really should not strain her voice. But finally Alice
agrees to give her some pointers.

Finally,
at the end, Alice confesses that her Father was still alive and
that he left her when she was little. The Angel explains to
Alice that although she will never see her earthly father and that
she will never have her (Alice's) voice, there is a Father who
will always love her... God. The singing lesson was to teach
Alice to sing to her true Father, the Heavenly Father
