Angelic Voice Reaches New
Heights

Charlotte Church's video, "Voice of an Angel", is
available in both VHS and DVD. This review covers the VHS format
that I purchased through Amazon.com. I have heard that the DVD
version has an extra photograph section, but I cannot verify this.
The video is reasonably priced at $20.98 including standard shipping
in the US.
If you are a Charlotte Church fan, then I highly recommend this
video because not only do you get to see Charlotte perform, but you
are also allowed a behind the scenes look into the production of the
video and a
view into her private life. "Voice of an angel" is divided
into two parts: the first part is the performance and the second
part is the behind the scenes coverage.
The performance itself is spectacular; the videography and lighting
effects are complimentary to each other. The lighting effects
deserve special note because they are exceptionally well done.
Charlotte is bathed in a colorful light throughout the concert and
amazingly it never detracts or becomes obtrusive to the picture. The
concert is held together by the lights, orchestra, chorus, and of
course, Charlotte who shows off her ability to charm, remain
composed and disciplined throughout the production. She performs the
following songs in order: Panis Angelicus, The Lord's Prayer, Mae
Hiraeth yu y Mor, In Trutina, Pie Jesu, Danny Boy, My Lagan Love,
Suo-Gan, Y Gylfinir, When at Night I go to Sleep, and The Men of
Harlech. Charlotte sings a duo with a friend in Pie Jesu and
When at
Night I go to Sleep. The duo is a bit uneven in Pie Jesu, but is
better with When at Night I go to Sleep. Overall, the performance is
typically Charlotte and the viewer is left satisfied.
The second half of the video shows some of the private life of
Charlotte. She and her mother do interviews and we learn some of
Charlotte's idiosyncrasies. Charlotte gives her impression of fame
and how it has affected her life. More interviews with her manager
and Sony give a broader picture of Charlotte. There are also shots
of her bedroom, home life, and even exclusive footage of her
school in her video diary. We see Charlotte during rehearsal and get
her impressions before the concert to.
As I have said, if you are a Charlotte fan and haven't gotten this
video yet, then go out and get it because you will not be
