International Family Film Festival,
Sancta Clarita
25 April 2003
By Claire

OK, OK, EVERYONE, HERE'S THE REVIEW THAT MOST OF YA HAVE
ALL BEEN WAITING FOR........THE FILM FESTIVAL OF "IBT",
IN SANTA CLARITA
!!!
WELL, LET ME GIVE ALL OF YOU THE SHORT, MOST IMPORTANT
VERSION FIRST.................................
CHARL'S FILM "IBT" IS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE MOST
INCREDIBLE, STUNNING, TEAR-JERKING, EMOTIONAL,
INTRIGUING, AWE-STRIKING, AND MOST CHEERFUL/FEEL-GOOD,
HUMOROOUS FILM,
I... HAVE... EVER... SEEN... IN... MY... ENTIRE... LIVING... LIFE..
!!!!!!!!!
CHARL ACTS AS IF SHE HAS ACTED IN SOOOO MANY OTHER FILMS
BEFORE...SOOO NATURALLY, AND SHE ADDS IN A TON OF
EMOTION, WHICH BRINGS/BROUGHT COZINESS/WARMTH TO MY
HEART, AND A LUMP IN MY THROAT, A FEW TIMES
..........WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY 2 GO, CHARL
!!!!!!!!
ALSO, ON THE PARTS OF THE FILM WHERE CHARL SANG HER
SONGS: "WIK", "SUMMERTIME", "
IN HEBRID SEAS" (AT THE
VERY BEGINNING OF THE FILM), AND "REACH OUT I'LL BE
THERE", I GASPED WITH HAPPINESS, AND I STARTED
TREMBLING, WITH PURE OVER-WHELMINGNESS, FROM THOSE
SONGS, AND JUST FROM THE WHOLE
ATMOSPHERE/STORY/MESSAGE/PLOT/EMOTION, ETC....OF THE
ENTIRE MOVIE *SIGHS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN*
!!!
WHENEVER THE FILM ZOOMED UP TO CHARL'S FACE REALLY
CLOSELY, AND SHE SMILED/GRINNNED/LAUGHED, ETC...I JUST
COULDN'T HELP, AT ALL, BUT SMILE HUGELY BACK, CAUSE,
WELL......HER SMILE'S TOTALLY INFECTIOUS...SAME WITH HER
LAUGHTER, AND THE WAY SHE TALKED/EXPRESSED
!!
MAAAAANNNNNN.....AT THE END OF THE MOVIE, WHEN CHARL AND
FERGUSION STARTED SINGING "IBT", AT HER (OLIVIVIA'S)
FAREWELL PARTY, I WAS LIKE.....SAID/WHISPERED TO MYSELF,
"AAAAAAHHHHHH....I HOPE IT ISN'T THE END YET....I HOPE
IT'S NOT OVER
",
BUT, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, WHILE CHARL/FERGUSION WERE IN
THE MIDDLE OF SINGING "REACH OUT", THE PICTURE STILLED,
AND THE CLOSING CREDITS STARTED SCROLLING UP, I BREATHED
WITH, "WOW....THIS IS THE BEST FILM I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY
ENTIRE LIFE", AND HAS THIS HUGE URGE TO START CLAPPING,
BUT, NOBODY ELSE WAS CLAPPING YET, SO....I JUST KEPT
BEING IN A TOTAL STATE OF AWE, AND WHEN I SAW THE NAME
CHARLOTTE CHURCH APPEAR EVER SO CLEARLY, ON THE CLOSING
CREDITS, WHILE THE REST OF HER SONG "REACH OUT" WAS
PLAYING, I JUST SMILED WIDELY, AND CLAPPED TO MYSELF
!!!!
AS THE CLOSING CREDITS KEPT SCROLLING UP, I STARTED TO
GET A LITTLE EMOTIONAL, WITH A LUMP IN MY THROAT, CAUSE
IT WAS OVER (
),
AND IT WAS JUST AN OVERLY EMOTIONAL, FEEL-GOOD/COZY FILM
ESPECIALLY, WITH CHARL IN IT
!!
MY FAVE PARTS ARE......: THE WHOLE ENTIRE FILM,
BUT...THESE ARE SOME FAVE HIGH LIGHTS, I WOULD LOVE TO
POINT OUT.....: (1) THE PART WHEN CHARL'S ON THE MOPED,
ZIPPING ON THROUGH THE STREETS, TO THE HAIR SALON, OR
WHATEVER IT WAS...AND ALSO, ZIPPING TO VARIOUS OTHER
DESTINATIONS; (2) AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FILM, WHEN YOU
HEAR THE TUNE OF "IN HEBRID SEAS" BEING PLAYED, AND, ALL
OF A SUDDEN, BEFORE YOU EVEN SEE CHARL SING, YOU ARE
TAKEN INTO THIS CHURCH, WHERE YOU SEE CHARL (OLIVIA)
SINGING THAT SONG (AN ANGEL, DEFINITELY
);
AND (3) WHEN PAUL (FERGUSION) IS IN THE PSYCHIATRIC
WARD, WITH ALL THESE OTHER PATIENTS, AND WHEN THE NURSE,
OLIVIA, REBECCA, AND THIS OTHER GUY WALK UP THE STAIRS,
SO THAT OLIVIA CAN MEET HER LONG-LOST DAD, THEY OPEN THE
DOOR, TO FIND PAUL PLAYING ON THE PIANO, AND EVERYONE
ELSE ACTING CRAZY...DANCING/JUMPING AROUND, AND PLAYING
WITH THE TAMBORINE (THAT WAS SOOO FUNNY
)
OK, NOW ON TO THE LONGER, LESS IMPORTANT VERSION OF
MY REVIEW
.............
WELL, AFTER LEAVING AT 6:00 P.M, AND GETTING TO THE "EDWARDS
THEATRES" AT 7:45 (LOTSSA TRAFFIC, WRONG ENTRANCES/EXITS,
ON THE FREEWAY, ETC
...),
WE, FINALLY, GOT TO THE "VALENICA TOWN CENTER" (MY MOM,
AND I)
!!
WHEN WE FINALLY GOT THERE, I GOT OUTTA THE CAR, AND
PICKED UP THE TIX, WHILE MOM PARKED IT (THE CAR)! WE,
THEN, ENTERED THE THEATRE, WHERE THIS SECURITY PERSON,
THEATRE OWNER, WHOEVER IT WAS, ESCORTED US TO THE "IFFF"
CENTER/TABLES, WHERE WE PICKED UP PROGRAMES, AND......OOOOOOHHHHHH
MYYYYY GOOOOOOSSSSHHHHH, I...SAW...A...POSTER...OF..."IBT",
HANGING UP ON THE WALL (
),
AND I JUST POINTED IT OUT TO MOM, IMMEDIATELY, SAYING
THAT I WANTED ONE, IF THEY HAD ANY EXTRAS, OVER AND
OVER, LIKE A LITTLE CHILD
!!!!
AS WE ENTERED THE RIGHT THEATRE (THEATRE NUMBER
3....AFTER BEING IN THE WRONG THEATRE THE FIRST TIME...THEATRE
NUMBER 2), WE WERE HANDED A SURVEY/FEEBACK SHEET, TO
FILL OUT, AFTER THE MOVIE WAS OVER (WHICH, I ALREADY
KNEW WHAT FEEDBACK, I WOULD GIVE, SO.....BUT, I STILL
WAITED TILL AFTER THE MOVIE, TO FILL IT OUT
)!!!
I ALREADY TALKED A WHOLE MOUTH/MIND-FUL ABOUT MY
EXPERIENCE WITH SEEING CHARL'S FIRST FILM, FIRSTHAND, ON
THE BIG SCREEN, SO......I'LL JUST GO TO AFTER THE FILM,
WITH WHICH MORGAN CREEK'S PRODUCER:
BRIAN-SOMETHING, TALKED TO US ABOUT WORKING WITH THE
STARS/CAST (AND, YES, HE DID TALK A WHOLE LOT ABOUT
CHARL *YAY*
),
AND, WE HAD OUR CHANCES TO ASK HIM QUESTIONS, ABOUT THE
FILM, ETC...! AFTER BRIAN TALKED WITH US FOR A WHILE, WE
HAD AN EVENT TO GO TO, THAT CORRESSPONDED WITH THE SAME
THEME......ALL OF US, THAT ATTENDED THE SCREENING OF "IBT"
WERE TREATED TO A PARTY/DINNER-TYPE OF THING AT "SISLEY'S"
ITALIEN RESTAURANT, WHICH WAS DEEEEE-LICIOUS
!!!!
BUT.........THE ONLY DOWN-SIDE/SORTA HEART BREAKING SIDE
OF THE PARTY/MOVIE FESTIVAL WAS THAT..................... *SIGHS* .........CHARL...WASN'T...THERE,
AND I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WANTED TO COMPLIMENT HER ON
HOW WELL SHE DID/ACTED ON THAT FILM, AND I EVEN BROUGHT
MY FREE PROMO "IBT"/"WIK" SINGLE WITH ME, INCASE SHE WAS
THERE, SO THAT SHE COULD AUTOGRAPH IT, BUT.........NOOOOOOOO
!!!!!!!
WELL, YOU GUYS, I HOPE ALL OF YA CAN, AND/OR WILL BE
ABLE TO DIGEST THIS WHOLE, LONG, DETAILED REVIW I PUT
TOGETHER
!!!
Las Vegas
20 April 2003
By Dave
What a great weekend. After
the concert was over and we were walking out of the
theater there were two people handing out fliers. Most
weren't taking them but since it was outside a CC
concert I thought I'd get one to see what it was. Well I
grabbed two went to my room and threw them on my bed
without even looking at what I had gotten. A few minutes
later I got a call from Steve asking if I was going to
the movie. I was a little confused as to what he was
talking about. He asked if I had gotten one of the
handouts when we left the concerts.
I put the phone down went to the bed and found this:
I guess you
know where I went the following day. Steve, Kevin, and I
went to the movies, never ever thought I ever go to a
movie in Las Vegas.
Sure wish I could have gotten hold of Brad and a couple
others.
Anyway I enjoyed the movie immensely.

Hi there Charlotte
Church fans! I thought I'd stop by and give you some
more information about this film. Just to first clear
things off, the title of the flick will indeed be I'll
Be There (which refers to a certain song that is sung in
the movie). I just attended the first ever screening of
the film in front of a test audience which took place in
Anaheim, CA. Here is my summary.
I'll Be There depicts the relationships between a mother
and a daughter and the rock star father the girl never
knew she had. Church plays Olivia, a sixteen year old
who runs a paper route and has a voice that is to die
for. Her mother, Rebecca, would rather have her daughter
work in the family's hair salon than become involved in
the music industry. A strange set of events occur, and
Olivia is eventually told by her mother that she is the
daughter of former rock star of the 80's, Paul Keen
(please forgive me if this character's name is
incorrect). After daughter and father reunite, Rebecca
tries to keep them apart because she believes that
Paul's lifestyle is a negative influence on Olivia. Will
the tension between family members alleviate?
I'll Be There is a great comedy filled with fine British
humor and entertaining performances by the entire cast.
I can tell that some of the American audience didn't
understand much of the jokes. In the end, the general
reaction to the film was great. Church does a great job
in her first major film role. Her voice shines in the
operatic opening sequence and in the pop ballad
recording session. This film is perfect for people aged
ten and up.
Mind you, the cut of the movie I saw is probably not
exactly what you people will see in March of 2003. The
film looked pretty good, but it wasn't a hundred percent
polished. I might go check it out when it is finally
released in theaters.
Director and star of the film, Craig Ferguson, was at
the screening. I only had time to compliment him on the
fine film he's done. He's a very handsom guy.
On a final note, you Charlotte Church fans really have
something to look forward to. She's a natural - a
perfect choice for the role. I'll Be There is no
Crossroads. The film exceeds Britney Spears' first
effort in every way. I certainly hope that Ms. Church
decides to balance more films into her busy singing
career. Charlotte's a great talent in every way.
