"I'm not really sure where I'm going to go with my music. But I do want to try and do something a bit unique, something different. I need to expand" - Charlotte Church
Teenage soprano Charlotte Church says she wants to try something different musically - the only problem is she's not sure what.
"I don't want to go too far away from what I'm doing now because that would alienate my audience," said Church, who is in Greece to perform a charity concert.
"I'm not really sure where I'm going to go with my music. But I do want to try and do something a bit unique, something different. I need to expand."
The singer said even though she "naturally leaned toward classical music," she likes mixing musical sounds.
In one performance she remembers making her voice "half classical and half rhythm and blues.
"I really like that, breaking down musical barriers and mixing up different sounds."
The 16-year-old will perform a concert later this week in aid of an appeal to build an arts centre in Athens, which organisers say will be ready in time for the 2004 Olympics.
Charlotte took the opera world by storm when her album Voice of an Angel, released in 1998, went double platinum within a month.
The Guinness Book of World Records has her listed as the youngest artist ever to hit number one in British chart history.

Charlotte's Birthday Bash | February
20
|

BBCNews | Wales
Singer Charlotte Church has treated more than 100 of her friends to a secret five-hour party to celebrate her 16th birthday.
The Church family spent thousands of pounds on the late-night bash at a Cardiff nightclub which was timed to coincide with the half-term holidays.
But the dozens of underage partying youngsters were told not to do anything to upset her squeaky-clean image and were allowed only non-alcoholic drinks.
The birthday bash, with a DJ on hand to keep people on the dance floor, came just hours before she was due to fly off to North America where she will sing at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics.
Charlotte's parents Maria and James picked up the bill for the taking over the Latino's nightspot in Cardiff's Cafe Quarter.
Extra security was laid on to keep out the gatecrashers at the event which saw the teenage guests dancing until 0030GMT, with the star of the night often choosing the music.
Charlotte has since flown out of Britain and will spend her birthday night, 21 February, with two girl friends at the trendy Moonba nightspot in Los Angeles.
She then flies on to Salt Lake City where she is singing in the closing ceremony of the Winter Games on Sunday.
Nightspot owner Giovanni Malacrino, 44, confessed it was more difficult looking after 100 excited schoolchildren than 2,000 rugby fans.
He said: "We were serving 2,500 people on Saturday at the Wales-France rugby match, that was easier than doing a birthday party for 100 16-year-old children who think they're adults.
"We had to set up extra security and we had loads of gatecrashers.
"Word had spread amongst the kids that Charlotte was having her party.
Checked ID
Because we are a licensed premises we had to make sure everyone was safe.
"There was a security guard in front of the bar to make sure people buying alcohol had ID to show they were over 18."
Charlotte's parents booked the party two months ago and made it clear they did not want alcohol being served to the youngsters - staff were asked to check the ID of anyone trying to buy alcohol.
Charlotte sent out invites to her friends and school friends at the private's Howell's School in Llandaff, Cardiff.
The play list for the evening included her favourite song, Get UR Freak On by Missy Elliot.
Despite her international fame and fortune, Charlotte is keen to keep in touch with her school friends.
Last month she helped out in a Cardiff sandwich bar on a Saturday morning to raise money for cancer research.
She admitted that she often worked in the city centre takeaway to help her friends there on busy days.

Charlotte takes cousin, 12, under her angelic wing as youngster dreams of stardom
Feb 18 2002

icwales.icnetwork.co.uk
VOICE of an angel Charlotte Church is grooming a new singing star - her 12-year-old cousin.
Jenna Lane is following in her famous relative's footsteps by launching herself as a child star.
She has appeared on Michael Barrymore's hit TV show My Kind of Music and sings in concerts all over Wales.
Jenna said, "One day I'm going to be as famous as Charlotte."
Unlike her cousin Charlotte's operatic style, Jenna is concentrating on pop music.
Charlotte, who will celebrate her 16th birthday next week, has given Jenna her full support.
"She's given me loads of help with my career already," said Jenna.
"She taught me how to breathe properly when I sing and how to hit the really high notes clearly." Charlotte shot to international stardom when she was just 11 years old.
Since then the public has watched the schoolgirl blossom into a beautiful young woman.
She's sold millions of albums and sung all over the world - and is estimated to be valued at £12m.
Jenna is still in the first year of Willows Comprehensive in Trow-bridge, Cardiff, but has her heart set on stardom.
"If I'm queen of pop one day and Charlotte is even more famous than she is now just imagine the great concert we could do together," she said.
Charlotte often watches Jenna perform in local concerts in charity shows, dance exhibitions and musical evenings.
Jenna said, "It's lovely looking out over the lights and seeing Charlotte smiling back at me.
"And she's given me her tip for making it big: be in the right place at the right time.
"I want to be as famous as Charlotte but I want to be as happy as her too.
"She told me she loves working in showbusiness. I can't wait until it's my turn."
Jenna's mum Lisa, who is aged 35, said, "We're all very happy of what Charlotte has achieved, and hopefully it runs in the family with
Jenna."
Thanks to Chuck
