Charlotte's nerves over film role|

Mail 21 June 2002 Scan thanks to Malcolm Neale
Teenage singer Charlotte Church admitted today that she was "really nervous" about her forthcoming movie role.
The 16-year-old, who finished her GCSEs yesterday, starts filming for the British comedy, The Family Business, in London next week.
Set in Wales, the film tells the story of a young girl called Olivia who finds out that her father was a once famous rock star.
It has been written by Craig Ferguson who was also behind Saving Grace, and Charlotte said it was loosely based on the life story of American actress Liv Tyler who discovered her father was Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler.
Charlotte was speaking as she toured the children's ward of the University Hospital of Wales in her hometown of Cardiff.
She was there in her capacity as patron of the Noah's Ark Appeal, which is raising money to build the first dedicated children's hospital in Wales.
"I finished my GCSEs yesterday with a history exam and am delighted to be here today for the Noah's Ark Appeal. I am so pleased my exams are over and I do not to have to do any more maths," she said.
"I am off to London now to start filming. There is no rest for the wicked.
"This is my first film role. I have done a bit of acting before so I am really nervous but excited at the same time.
"I play a really clever girl called Olivia. I will be singing in the role but it will be very different from my normal stuff."
While Charlotte was at the hospital, it was announced that the Noah's Ark Appeal is to receive a donation of £100,000 from Wales' leading cancer charity, Tenovus.
The Appeal still has less than £1 million to raise but work on the new hospital is due to start next year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2004.
In April, Charlotte and Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones joined former cricketer Ian Botham on his walk around Wales to raise money for the Appeal.

Charlotte's pop plans shouldn't bother Britney
Gemma Williams, South Wales Echo
CHARLOTTE Church won't be singing classical music on her next album - but she won't be trying to steal Britney's thunder.
Despite selling millions of albums as a soprano singer, the 16-year-old - who has sung for two USA Presidents and royalty around the world - is determined that her music develops as she grows older.
And in a move to have more control over her career, Charlotte will co-write her next album, which she will start working on after she finishes filming her new movie, The Family Business, at the end of the summer.
But despite the move away from classical music, the Cardiff star is determined not to become the next Britney Spears.
Charlotte's mother Maria told the Echo: "Charlotte doesn't want to go all poppy, but she is likely to have a more world music sound.
"She's going to go into the studio with some of music's top producers, like James Diamond and Jesse Cook and just see what happens.
"It's likely the album will take about a yearanda-half to finish as she wants all the songs to be originals. It won't be like her previous albums where she goes in and sings songs that have been composed by other people."
But Maria says Charlotte is determined not to turn her back on the fans who have supported her classical music.
She said: "Charlotte would never just go off and become a pop star. She wants to develop her style but not go to the extreme to lose her current market.
"Charlotte has the ability to try new things - she plays piano and wants to try writing songs."
Charlotte has often signalled a desire to expand her singing style and says her musical tastes range from hip-hop to Broadway and rock.
She finishes her GCSE exams next week and will then go to London to film her first movie, which will be set in Cardiff, when she stars as an Echo papergirl.
The Cardiff singer has sold more than eight million copies of her albums Voice of an Angel, Dream a Dream and Enchantment.
She is the youngest artist ever to have a number one album in the UK Classical charts and was voted Artist of the Year at the first Classical Brit Awards in May 2000.

Singing star to papergirl
The Western Mail
TEENAGE singer Charlotte Church is set to follow in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears by making a film.
The 16-year-old is to star as a papergirl who has aspirations to follow in the footsteps of her father after discovering he was a famous rock star in the film called The Family Business.
The film is going to be set in her home city of Cardiff and filming will start next month.
This is not the first film in which the soprano, who is currently sitting her GCSEs, has acted.
She appeared in a special Christmas episode of the popular Heartbeat series.
A spokeswoman for the production company making the film said, "We are absolutely delighted that Charlotte is on board. She is going to be fantastic."
No release date for the film has been finalised yet.
Her mother Maria said, "This is a new venture for Charlotte - both with acting and changing her sound vocally. There will be a few surprises as Charlotte won't be singing classical songs. Charlotte is excited but quite nervous about acting."
Paper girl Charlotte dreams of stardom
Gemma Williams, South Wales Echo
Singing Sensation Church is getting a part-time job - as an Echo delivery girl.
The teen star has travelled the world singing for presidents and the Pope, but she can't wait to post your daily paper through your letterbox.
Just don't expect to see her cycling up your garden path just yet - her Saturday job will only be for her new film.
Charlotte, 16, is to star in her first movie, The Family Business, in which she will play a newspaper delivery girl who has her sights set on becoming - you've guessed it - a singing star.
She will start filming the romantic comedy in London on June 24, after she finishes her GCSEs next week.
But fans of the soprano will be in for a shock - Charlotte will sing in the film, but will move away from her usual classical style.
Charlotte's mother Maria said: "This is a new venture for Charlotte - both with acting and changing her sound vocally. There will be a few surprises for people as Charlotte won't be singing classical songs.
"We have been involved in this film for about a year and a half since the director, Craig Ferguson, said he would write a script specifically for Charlotte.
"Charlotte is excited but quite nervous about acting.
It's a whole different ball game from singing, which she's been doing for years. But I know she'll be fine as she's a natural actress."
The film will follow Charlotte's character's attempts to persuade her mother to let her follow her father's footsteps into music.
Although it is being filmed in London, the story will be set in Cardiff and will feature local references - like Charlotte delivering copies of the South Wales Echo.
Maria said: "We hope this film does for Cardiff what Billy Elliot did for the north east.
"We'd be really pleased if it did as well as that film as we loved it.
"Charlotte adores Cardiff and we always get the Echo every day. She's never had a Saturday job before but has been working for years so she has never had time to do things like delivering newspapers."
Charlotte, who previously appeared in an episode of the ITV series Heartbeat, will have an acting coach with her during the two months of filming, and her friends from Cardiff will visit her on set to keep her company.
It is likely The Family Business will be released in February or March next year, and will have its premiere in America, where Charlotte has a huge fan base.
After she has finished filming, Charlotte will head back to the music studio to record her next album.
Church lands film role
BBCNEWS
Wales
Charlotte Church will play an aspiring singer
Teen singing star Charlotte Church has landed a film role as a paper round girl - and the film's makers hope it could repeat the success of the smash-hit Billy Elliott.
The 16-year-old from Cardiff will play a teenager with a Saturday job, who dreams of becoming a singing star.
Ironically, the real-life Ms Church recently spent a Saturday filling baguettes at a family friend's shop.
Family Business, a romantic comedy set in Cardiff, is due to begin filming in two weeks time in London, following the end of the would-be actress' GCSE exams.
Fans will not be disappointed, as the soprano is due to sing in the film.
Her only previous on-screen experience was a role in the ITV series Heartbeat.
The idea for the film came to light 18 months ago, when director Craig Ferguson decided to come up with a script written specifically for the singer.
The storyline and film's title follow the youngster's efforts to follow in her father's musical footsteps, against her mother's wishes.
Church will receive acting coaching and also have to learn to sing non-classical material.
"Charlotte is excited but quite nervous about acting," said her mother Maria.
"It's a whole different ball game from singing, which she's been doing for years. But I know she'll be fine as she's a natural actress."
She added: "She's never had a Saturday job before but has been working for years so she has never had time to do things like delivering newspapers.
"We hope this film does for Cardiff what Billy Elliot did for the north east.
Charlotte will sing non-classical numbers
"We'd all be really pleased if it did as well as that film as we loved it."
Last month, Church had to sit her geography GCSE exam at the crack of dawn, during a working trip to the United States.
She took the test at the British Embassy in Washington DC at 0400 local time under the watchful eye of an independent invigilator.
In April, Charlotte helped cricket legend Ian Botham raise £850,000 by joining the final leg of his charity walk around Wales in aid of the Noah's Ark children's hospital appeal.
