Tour Info Clarifications |
September 27
|
Many of you have been e-mailing us about your
lack of success in regards to finding info from any of the venues
listed during the 23 September post where we announced Charlotte's
US Tour for later this year. After consulting with various sources
we can tell you the following which at this point is very much not
set in stone:
These will not be "pure Charlotte"
events in that Charlotte will not be the only performer, instead
they will likely be holiday specials. Julie Andrews is likely also
part of these events and as such you may get better luck in asking
for info when you mention her name along with Charlotte's for the
specific dates listed.
It is still unclear how big a role Charlotte
will play in these events but it is likely her portion will be a bit
under a half hour in length.
We're still going to pull all dates from our forward
looking schedules until we get further confirmation from each
specific venue.

Charlotte to release Greatest Hits
album and possible single in December |
September 25
|
We've learned that Charlotte will be releasing
her first "Greatest Hits" album this coming November. The
album will be titled "Greatest Hits" in North America and
"The Best Of" in the UK/Rest of World. The album is set to
be released on 4 November 2002 in the UK and 19 November in North
America. We'll have a preview in the coming weeks along with links
to pre-order shortly.
The news doesn't end there though, we have also
learned that Charlotte will likely be releasing a new single this
December, the track will be one from her upcoming film "The
Family Business". If all goes as planned this will be the first
showcase of Charlotte's new direction musically although those lucky
enough to see Charlotte in concert should be able to hear this
before anyone else.

"The Family Business"
gets a release date |
September 21
|
Charlotte's upcoming film is
now complete as far as shooting of film is concerned. As such a
release date has now been finalised by Mogan Creek, the production
company, read on:
Principal photography commences on “The Family Business”
Morgan Creek Productions’ comedy- with-music that is tentatively titled The Family Business, starring Craig Ferguson (Saving Grace, The Big Tease), Jemma Redgrave (Howard’s End) and introducing the phenomenal soprano artist Charlotte Church, commenced principal photography in the United Kingdom on July 1. The announcement was made today by James G. Robinson, Chairman/CEO and Guy McElwaine, President of Morgan Creek Productions.
In addition to starring in the film, Craig Ferguson will also make his directorial debut in The Family Business, from his original screenplay co- written with Philip McGrade. The film is a Morgan Creek Production produced by James G. Robinson and executive produced by Guy McElwaine.
The Family Business is an off-beat comedy about a former 80s pop star (Ferguson) whose downward spiral is halted when he discovers he has a teenage daughter (Church) - the product of a weekend love affair.
For this production, Morgan Creek and Ferguson have surrounded themselves with such renowned names in production personnel such as editor Sheldon Kahn, a two-time Oscar nominee who has edited such films as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Ghostbusters, Out of Africa, Dave, Road Trip, Proof of Life and Evolution; music supervisor Bud Carr, who has worked on close to 50 feature films including Platoon, Terminator, Heat, JFK, Donnie Brasco, Hoosiers and Born on the Fourth of July; Cinematographer Ian Wilson, whose credits include The Crying Game, Edward II and Emma; and Oscar-nominated production designer Tim Harvey, who has designed the productions for such films as Henry V, Hamlet and what many consider to be the finest television adaptation ever, the BBC mini-series I, Claudius.
Craig Ferguson most recently starred in Saving Grace with Brenda Blethyn, a film which he also wrote and co-produced. Prior to that, Ferguson wrote, starred in and executive produced The Big Tease, the mock-documentary of a gay Glaswegian hairdresser who assumes he’s been invited to the Beverly Hills World Freestyle Hairdressing Championship. While remaining one of Great Britain’s leading comedians, having starred in several BBC self-titled specials and series, he is best known to American audiences as the supercilious Nigel Wick, Drew Carey’s boss on The Drew Carey Show.
Welsh soprano Charlotte Church became an overnight classical superstar in November 1998 with the release of her debut album Voice of an Angel, issued when she was just 13 years old. Born in Llandaff, Cardiff, she began performing in public at age three, and five years later was a regular at local karaoke competitions; from there Church made a series of television appearances, followed by live dates at prestigious venues including the London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall. Upon signing to Sony Classical, she released Voice of an Angel to considerable media attention; a self-titled effort followed in 1999. Both albums went platinum in the U.S. after reaching the Top Ten in the U.K. Dream a Dream, a Christmas album, released in 2000, hit the Top Ten and went platinum in the U.S. Her fourth release, Enchantment, appeared in the fall of 2001.
Supporting cast members include Joss Ackand (The Hunt for Red October, TV’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), Ralph Brown (The Crying Game, Impromptu), Ian McNeice (84 Charing Cross Road, Valmont), Stephan Noonan (Affair of the Necklace), and Imelda Staunton (Shakespeare in Love, Sense and Sensibility).
The film is scheduled for release in March 2003. The Family Business will be distributed in North America by Warner Bros. Pictures, an AOL Time Warner Company, and internationally by Warner Bros. Pictures and Morgan Creek International.
In keeping with Morgan Creek’s vision to produce between three and five films per year, production will commence later this summer on the prequel to The Exorcist, starring Liam
Neeson.

We've got Britney already and now we also get Charlotte Church (Wales, 1986). Like Britney, this (classical) singing teenage star will make her acting debut. The title of the film is "The Family Business". In this romantic comedy Charlotte acts in the role of a girl that dreams about a career as... a well-known singer. The news, announced by her mother (and manager, of course), was sent into the world via the sites below. The film, directed by Craig Ferguson, is currently being shooted.

Star tops call-centre chart
The Western Mail
Aug 9 2002
TEENAGE star Charlotte Church has beaten rubbish and council tax to top a new chart.
A list of calls compiled by Cardiff Council's call centre has caused staff much amusement - for they receive more calls requesting the singer's autograph than they do about council matters.
A spokesperson for Cardiff Council said, "We do get some very strange requests, but Charlotte Church is certainly the most popular.
"People ring up from all over the world asking for her autograph and other information. The staff then have to direct them to her fan club as they can only deal with council-related calls." The call centre service, which opened last September and received 17,000 calls last month, has been very popular with people from all over the world, and staff have dealt with some very unusual queries.
People also seek information about other celebrities such as the Stereo-phonics and Manic Street Preachers.
One man called from China, desperate to trace an old school friend.
