Voice of a New
Millennium |
Charlotte, on her
celebrity
iVillage: How do you feel
about your career taking off at
such a young age?
Charlotte: No different than I
would if it were taking off at
26.
iVillage: So you don't feel like it has any impact
that's any different than it would if you were older?
Charlotte: No.
iVillage: Do you find other kids react any
differently to you?
Charlotte: No, not at all.
iVillage: I know you have a new project coming
out. Would like to speak a little about the CD that's
about to be released?
Charlotte: It has about 19 songs on it, and it's being
released on November 16th.
iVillage: How did you choose the songs on the CD?
Charlotte: I sat with my teacher and my mum, and we
listened to songs.
We choose about 17 songs. Then the producers picked the
other two.
iVillage: Do you think you'll continue performing
classically?
Charlotte: I'll always sing classically, and I will
join an opera company, obviously, yes. I'd like to do a couple of operas just
to see what it's like. I don't want to just commit myself to opera, though.
iVillage: Which roles are you interested in performing?
Charlotte: Madame Butterfly, Mimi, Tosca.
iVillage: You're doing something very exciting with the
Ford Motor Company. What do you feel the song that you sing in the
commercial says to the world?
Charlotte: It's kind of Christmas-y, but it has a lot
to do with the millennium as well. Basically, from Ford's point of view, it's
Ford saying thank you to old customers, hello and welcome to new customers. From the
public's point of view, it's goodbye to the old millennium and hello to
the new.
iVillage: What excited you about this project with Ford?
Charlotte: Namely the song. The song is so good.
