Charlotte’s South
American Dream
Karen Price
03/08/1999
SHE’S already
conquered the UK, Britain and Australia and she’s taken Europe and
the Far East by storm.
Now, at the
tender age of 13, Charlotte Church is setting her sights on making
it big in South America.
One of the ways
she aims to do this is by singing a song for one of the country’s
most successful soap operas.
Her manager
Jonathan Shalit said the song would be recorded in Spanish by
Charlotte later this year.
He said one of
the reasons she still had to make her break in South America was
because she had not yet been there to promote her first album, Voice
of an Angel.
“With her
being a child, she has not got the time to promote the record
everywhere,” said Shalit.
It is less than
a year since Char-lotte’s album was released but she is already
rumoured to be a multi-millionaire.
In the
countries she has visited, Charlotte has gone down a storm.
The album has
sold three million copies worldwide - a million in Europe, a million
in America and the remainder in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
The Cardiff
schoolgirl soprano is currently recording vocals for her second
album, as yet untitled, in London. A pupil at Howells School in
Llandaff, she has had to fit the recording into her summer holidays.
The album is
due to be released in November and Charlotte will then embark on a
world tour to promote it. The countries she will visit include
America, Korea, Japan and Australia.
Meanwhile, it
has been revealed that Charlotte will perform at the Rugby World
Cup’s closing ceremony at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
