CHARLOTTE Church will begin recording her
third album next month- a mix of traditional and new Christmas songs.
The new album will be in record shops in time for the Christmas sales and
it is hoped it will be as successful as the teenage
soprano's first two releases.
It is not yet known what songs will be on the recording, but
a spokesman for Charlotte's record company, Sony, said it would contain
a mix of old and new songs with a festive theme.
Charlotte, 14, will be recording the album at
Air Studios in London.
It will be her first CD since her parents sacked her manager
Jonathan Shalit.
Her debut,Voice of an Angel,
and her second album, simply called Charlotte Church, have together sold more than
5M copies worldwide and Charlotte is now the biggest-selling British artist in America-
a country which is usually very hard to crack, and has not succumbed to
many of Britain's most popular bands.
The schoolgirl is contracted to record five
albums for sony.
Sony are delighted to be bringing out Charlotte Church's next
album, said a spokesman for the record company.
We hope it will do as well in sales as the last ones. Her
voice is improving all the time.
Charlotte is becoming Sony's most bankable asset, despite it
boasting household names such as Michael Jackson, Celine Dion,
Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen and Manic Street Preachers.
The record company has already earned millions of pounds from
their young star.
When her second album was sreleased last autumn, it was revealed that
for each copy sold, Charlotte stood to earn between 10 and 15 percent of the cover price, while Sony would receive between 25 and 30
percent.
The Company is now set to rake in further profits from her next
album.
Charlotte's acrimonious split from Shalit - who launched her careet
after spotting her singing on a TV talent show two years ago
when she was just 12 - does not seem to have harmed her career.
In fact, she seems to be going from strength to strength. In February, just a
month after Shalit was fired, Charlotte made a successful tour in the
Far East and Australia, where she celebrated her 14th birthday.
A month later she was named Britain's youngest millionaire, with an
estimated fortune of 6m pounds, and In May she won the title Artist of the year
at the inaugural Classical Brit Awards.
Shalit, 37, is said to have been fired by fax and has been accused
of treating charlotte's mother Maria with contempt and swearing at
the teenage star in public.
The former manager - now seeking compensation, claiming that he
would have earned as much as 5m until the end of his contract in 2002
and from subsequent roylty payments - denies the claims.
A high Court battle is now likely to be the end result of the dispute.
