FAMOUS VISITOR: It was not so much a jet-set engagement on the other side of the
world as a local visit of good will and encouragement.
Despite a diary laced with international appearances, Cardiff-born soprano Charlotte
Church found time in her busy schedule to return to her former primary school to
launch a fundraising appeal.
Church, who still lives in Cardiff with her parents, went back to St Mary's Primary
School in Canton to unveil plans to replace all its existing windows and doors.
The singer, who is due to take her GCSE exams in June at Howell's School in Llandaff
,mingled with the children and confessed that it brought back many happy memories.
She said, "Even when I was here the windows needed replacing and I am trying to do
anything I can to help them."
Head teacher Roy JetTeries said, "We could have no bigger star to kick-start our
project. Charlotte is always great about coming back to help us out."
